Province I is partnering with faith communities across New England to host Trinity Institute's "Listening for a Change: Sacred Conversations on Racial Justice."
Nicholas Kristof, Anna Deavere Smith, Presiding Bishop Michael Curry and Michele Norris will be featured speakers at TI2016 has assembled an amazing group of speakers, panelists, and artists who are leading activists, scholars, authors, and experts on racial inequality (see speaker bios here).
The program (see schedule here) will be offered via web streaming January 21-23, 2016. This year's program has been designed to help us practice dialogue - a process of listening and speaking. The process we will use recognizes that many of us avoid conversations about race because we find them difficult, we feel uncomfortable, or we could risk being perceived as prejudiced.
Local sites, including three in N,H will have facilitators to guide our conversations as a learning opportunity with chances to talk in theological reflection groups about charged issues with people who might have differing perspectives. These life-giving conversations will teach us more about the racial issues of our time, including structural racism, mass incarceration, and policy change.
